The Kansas City Royals and Royals Charities are committed to being active members of the Kansas City community and region. Created in 2001, Royals Charities strives to support children, education, youth baseball/softball, and military in and around the Kansas City area. The foundation accomplishes this mission through financial donations, as well as in-kind support, including memorabilia, tickets and publicity. Under the leadership of the Glass family, Royals Charities has donated more than $7 million dollars in grants since its inception.
Royals Charities raised more than $750,000 in 2012 to help provide support to children-based charities in the greater Kansas City area including Operation Breakthrough, Boys and Girls Club of the Greater Kansas City, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters to name a few.
More than $750,000 has been donated to renovate 64 fields in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Oklahoma and Arkansas since 2006 (with an average matching grant size of $5,000) through the Royalty Fields Program. For more information, please visit royals.com/royaltyfields.
The MLB-Royals All-Star Scholars Program is providing scholarships to five students a year through the 20/20 Leadership organization with the opportunity for a $2,500 scholarship per year to any college in Kansas or Missouri.
Royals Charities has donated more than $130,000 to help military families at Fort Leavenworth, Fort Riley, the VA Hospital, Whiteman Air Force Base and Wounded Warriors.
