This Day in Baseball History
February 23, 1988 > Chicago lawmakers repeal the statutes that had prevented night baseball from being played at Wrigley Field. On August 8th, 53 years after the first night game in Major League history, the Cubs will take the field under the home lights of Wrigley for the first time. Ironically, rain will cause the historic game to be wiped out after 3 1/2 innings.
