SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres will look to get back into the win column against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday after losing 7-2 on Tuesday at PETCO Park, a loss that snapped San Diego's five-game winning streak.

If the Padres are to tie their three-game set with the Dodgers at one game apiece, then they will have to get better production from their bullpen. After another strong start from Greg Maddux, the bullpen gave up six runs in three innings of work.

The Padres bats will need to continue to get hits but will need to produce more runs. The Padres left 11 men on base on Tuesday in producing their only two runs.

The Padres will get a chance to redeem themselves against the Dodgers' Chad Billingsley (4-6, 3.57 ERA) on Wednesday. Billingsley has 68 strikeouts to 31 walks over his last 10 starts and went five innings allowing four runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts in his last start against the Chicago Cubs on June 5.

The Padres will put Randy Wolf on the mound to counter Billingsley. Wolf, who has been a steady performer for the Padres' rotation this year, is 4-4 on the season with a 4.06 ERA. In his last start against the New York Mets, Wolf went seven strong innings giving up one run on seven hits.

The Padres have won 10 of their last 15 games and five of their last six.

Pitching matchup
SD: LHP Randy Wolf (4-4, 4.06 ERA)
The Padres got seven strong innings from Wolf in his last start on Friday against the Mets at PETCO Park, as he won his fourth game and lowered his ERA to 4.06. Wolf showed good command of his fastball, and his breaking ball came on strong late in the game. He did so against a Mets lineup that was 14-7 against left-handers this season with a .269 batting average. All told, Wolf allowed one run on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts against the Mets.

LAD: RHP Chad Billingsley (4-6, 3.57 ERA)
Billingsley had a strange game against the Cubs. He was unhittable, striking out eight of the first 10 outs. But he also allowed a pair of home runs and dug a four-run hole by the fifth inning, including a double allowed to opposing pitcher Ryan Dempster. He came into the game with a 1.80 ERA over his seven previous starts.

Tidbits
The 21 years and 340 days that separated Maddux (42) and Clayton Kershaw (20) -- Tuesday's starters -- was the second largest age gap between opposing pitchers this season. The Phillies' Jamie Moyer (45) and the Marlins' Andrew Miller (22) were separated by 22 years and 184 days when they pitched against one another on June 1. ... Maddux has made three consecutive quality starts and has 470 quality starts for his career which ranks third all-time behind Nolan Ryan (481) and Don Sutton (483). ... Scott Hairston, who went 2-for-5, had his 13th multihit game of the season and the 50th of his career.
