SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres will call up Chad Reineke from Triple-A Portland to start in place of the injured Chris Young against the Phillies on Saturday.
"He brings a fastball in the high-80s," said Padres manager Bud Black. "From what I've been told, he pitches with an aggressive style and comes at you."
Young was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right forearm on Thursday after suffering the injury during the fourth inning Sunday at Colorado.
This is Young's second stint on the DL this season. On May 22, he was placed on the DL with a nasal fracture and laceration to his nose after being hurt in the third inning of a May 21 game against St. Louis.
Reineke is 0-1 with a 4.15 ERA in three starts since joining Triple-A Portland after being acquired from Houston for left-hander Randy Wolf. Prior to joining Portland, he was 5-9 with a 4.41 ERA in 20 games (19 starts) with Triple-A Round Rock in the Houston Astros organization.
