San Diego general manager Kevin Towers said Kouzmanoff is expected to be ready for the start of Spring Training in February after having successful debridement surgery to determine if there was any damage to his rotator cuff.
"They didn't find anything ... there was nothing major [wrong] with the cuff. It was more of a cleaning out of the shoulder," Towers said. "Thankfully, it was nothing serious."
Towers said the shoulder had bothered Kouzmanoff toward "the end of the year."
Kouzmanoff hit .260 with a career-high 23 home runs and 84 RBIs in his second season as the starting third baseman.
He hit just .194 over the final month of the regular season, which could have been due to the shoulder.
