Padres at the plate: Leadoff hitter Drew Macias had three hits and made a nice running catch of a screaming line drive over his head hit by Josh Barfield in the third inning. Macias also drove in the first run of the game. Brian Giles and Cliff Floyd added doubles, and Floyd also drove in two runs. Luis Rodriguez had an RBI double.

Indians at the plate: Asdrubal Cabrera broke open a scoreless game in the third inning by lining a two-run double to right field. He later added a single. Trevor Crowe reached base three times, twice on singles. He also walked and had two stolen bases. Jhonny Peralta had a two-run single off Chris Britton in the fifth inning.

Padres on the mound: Starting pitcher Cha Seung Baek retired the first seven hitters he faced before allowing a bunt single to Crowe in the third inning. Baek, the projected No. 3 starter, allowed two runs on two hits over four innings with two strikeouts. Reliever Ivan Nova tossed a scoreless inning. Britton allowed a two-run single to the first batter he saw.

Indians on the mound: Starting pitcher Fausto Carmona allowed one hit over four scoreless innings with two strikeouts and three walks. While he was a little wild, Carmona did manage to get nine ground-ball outs. Reliever David Huff followed by allowing two runs on four hits over two innings. Masa Kobayaski allowed three runs in the seventh inning.

Cactus League records: Indians 6-9-1; Padres 3-8-3.

Up next: The Padres travel to Surprise on Sunday for a 1:05 p.m. PT game against the Texas Rangers. Starting pitcher Wade LeBlanc, who has an outside chance of winning a job in the starting rotation, enters the game with a 9.00 ERA in two appearances this spring. LeBlanc and Nick Schmidt are each scheduled to go three innings.
