Padres recall outfielder Macias
Club options left-hander Lopez to Triple-A Portland
The Padres recalled outfielder Drew Macias from Triple-A Portland on Monday and optioned left-hander Arturo Lopez to the same Portland club.Macias, 26, was batting .259 with two home runs and seven RBIs in 21 games as a right fielder with the Beavers. He is 1-for-3 with a double this season with the Padres over two previous stints with the club and has a career .217 batting average with two home runs and five RBIs in 21 games in the Majors. Macias was drafted by the Padres in the 35th round of the 2002 First-Year Player Draft. He will be in uniform on Tuesday when the Padres begin a three-game series with the Cubs in Chicago. Meanwhile, Lopez allowed five runs in 2 1/3 innings over four outings for a 19.29 ERA since being selected from Portland on April 28. Lopez, 26, was a non-roster invitee to Spring Training this year, but he was reassigned to Minor League camp on April 5 and began the season with Portland. Lopez had a 3.14 ERA in seven relief appearances with the Beavers. In nine Minor League seasons in the Dodgers (2001-04) and Padres (2005-09) organizations, he is 38-39 with a 5.11 ERA and 497 strikeouts in 632 1/3 innings.
