Padres to wear throwbacks on Thursdays
Fans to vote on club's uniform combo for six home games
Thursday afternoons at PETCO Park will be a blast from the past for Padres fans.
For six midday tilts, the Padres will sport the brown and mustard uniforms of 1970s or '80s vintage, according to a report by The Associated Press citing team president Tom Garfinkel as a source.
Fans will have the opportunity to vote for one of the three throwback uniforms on padres.com: the white jersey/white pants combo or brown jersey/white pants combo Gaylord Perry wore during his 1978 Cy Young season or the white jersey/white pants combo Tony Gwynn and Co. sported in 1984 on their way to claiming the first National League pennant in franchise history.
The Thursday afternoon games will also feature organ music and reduced rates for parking and concessions.
The Blue Jays and Brewers are among other big league clubs who have worn throwback uniforms regularly in recent years, and the Mets have unveiled a retro jersey for the 2010 season.
