PEORIA, Ariz. -- Padres center fielder Cameron Maybin left Thursday's game against the Rangers with a tight right quadriceps.
Maybin grounded out in his first at-bat in the first inning and was tested only once while playing defense, catching Elvis Andrus' line drive in the bottom of the first.
Maybin was replaced in the lineup in the bottom of the second inning by Jesus Guzman, who played right field. Will Venable moved from right field to center field.

San Diego manager Bud Black said Maybin's quad tightened up on him during his at-bat in the first inning.
The Padres have had a slew of minor injuries of late, and left fielder Ryan Ludwick, who missed time recently after fouling balls off his left shin in consecutive games, returned to the lineup.
Another outfielder, Aaron Cunningham, is out with a high calf strain. Eric Patterson, who figures to make the team as a utility man who can play the outfield and second base, has a sore left hamstring and could start the season on the disabled list.
