San Diego, CA - The San Diego Padres announced today that they have claimed right-handed pitcher Josh Banks off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays and have assigned him to Triple-A Portland. Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made the announcement.
Banks, 25, has a career 50-44 Minor League record with a 4.23 ERA (346 ER/736.1 IP) in 130 games (129 starts) over parts of six seasons in the Blue Jays organization. He is 0-2 with a 7.02 ERA (13 ER/16.2 IP) in three starts this season for Triple-A Syracuse.
The right-hander made his Major League debut in 2007 with the Blue Jays, posting a 7.36 ERA (6 ER/6.1 IP) in three outings (one start).
