Padres reinstate right-haned pitcher Mike Adams from 60-day disabled list
Club announces additional roster moves

San Diego, CA -- The San Diego Padres today announced they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Mike Adams from the 60-day disabled list. Additionally, the club has outrighted infielder Chris Burke to Triple-A Portland, recalled right-handed pitcher Edwin Moreno from Portland, optioned left-handed pitcher Joe Thatcher to Portland, recalled left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc from Portland and placed right-handed pitcher Luis Perdomo on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left knee. Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made today's announcements.
Adams, 30, has made a combined eight rehab appearances with Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Portland, going 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA (4 ER/9.0 IP) and six strikeouts. He was originally placed on the 15-day disabled list April 1 while recovering from right-shoulder surgery and was transferred to the 60-day DL on April 5. Adams made 54 relief appearances for the Padres in 2008, leading the club with a 2.48 relief ERA (18 ER/65.1 IP) and 74 relief strikeouts. Over parts of four Major League seasons with the Milwaukee Brewers (2004-06) and Padres (2008), he is 4-7 with a 3.02 ERA (45 ER/134.0 IP) and 128 strikeouts in 115 appearances.
Burke, 29, came to Spring Training with the Padres before being traded to the Seattle Mariners on March 29. He was reacquired by the Padres on April 21 and played in 32 games for the Friars, hitting .207 (17-for-82) with five doubles, one home run, five RBI and eight runs scored. Over parts of six Major League seasons with the Houston Astros (2004-07), Arizona Diamondbacks (2008) and Padres (2009), Burke has hit .239 (303-for-1,267) with 71 doubles, six triples, 23 home runs, 111 RBI and 176 runs scored in 477 games.
Moreno, 28, made his Major League debut with the Padres this season, making 16 relief appearances. He went 1-3 with a 4.67 ERA (9 ER/17.1 IP) and 13 strikeouts before being optioned to Portland on May 15. In 11 games with the Beavers, Moreno has gone 0-1 with six saves and a 2.08 ERA (3 ER/13.0 IP).
Thatcher, 27, began the season at Triple-A Portland, going 1-1 with a 1.29 ERA (2 ER/14.0 IP) and 17 strikeouts before being recalled on May 15. In eight games with San Diego, he posted a 4.50 ERA (4 ER/8.0 IP) with nine strikeouts.
LeBlanc, 24, has pitched in 10 games (nine starts) for Portland, going 1-3 with a 4.29 ERA (24 ER/50.1 IP) and 41 strikeouts. He made his Major League debut with the Padres in 2008, appearing in five games (four starts). With San Diego, he went 1-3 with an 8.02 ERA (19 ER/21.1 IP) and 14 strikeouts.
Perdomo, 25, was originally selected by the San Francisco Giants from the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2008 Rule 5 Draft and was then claimed off waivers by the Padres from the Giants on April 10. He made his Major League debut with the Padres this season, going 1-0 with a 5.06 ERA (12 ER/21.1 IP) in 14 games. Perdomo suffered the injury to his left knee during the June 5 game against the Diamondbacks.
