The San Diego Padres today announced they have reinstated right-handed pitcher Luis Perdomo from the 15-day disabled list and optioned left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc to Triple-A Portland. Executive Vice President/General Manager Kevin Towers made the announcement.
Perdomo, 25, was placed on the disabled list June 8 with a strained left knee. He made one rehab appearance with Triple-A Portland, allowing two runs over 1.0 inning of work. The right-hander was originally selected by the San Francisco Giants from the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2008 Rule 5 Draft and was then claimed off waivers by the Padres from the Giants on April 10. Perdomo made his Major League debut with the Padres this season and has gone 1-0 with a 5.06 ERA (12 ER/21.1 IP) in 14 games. He will join the club in Texas tomorrow.
LeBlanc, 24, made two starts for the Padres, going 0-1 with a 14.54 ERA (7 ER/4.1 IP). Over parts of two Major League seasons with San Diego, he is 1-4 with a 9.12 ERA (26 ER/25.2 IP) in seven games (six starts). The left-hander has pitched in 11 games (10 starts) for Portland this season, going 1-4 with a 4.08 ERA (26 ER/57.1 IP) and 47 strikeouts.
