San Diego, CA - The San Diego Padres today announced they have requested unconditional release waivers on right-handed pitcher Eulogio De La Cruz. Executive Vice President/General Manager Jed Hoyer made the announcement.

De La Cruz, 25, spent the majority of the season at Triple-A Portland, going 2-6 with nine saves and a 3.12 ERA (24 ER/69.1 IP) in 48 games (four starts). In addition, he made three relief appearances for the Padres, posting a 5.40 ERA (2 ER/3.1 IP). Over parts of three Major League seasons with the Detroit Tigers (2007), Florida Marlins (2008) and Padres (2009), De La Cruz has an 11.84 ERA (25 ER/19.0 IP) with no decisions in 15 games (one start). He has allowed a .346 opponents average over his three years in the Big Leagues.

With today's transaction, the San Diego Padres now have 39 players on their 40-man roster.
