Padres approaching sellout for Opening Day against Giants
Less than 200 seats remain; team to release 1,500 Park passes

SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- With just over two weeks to go until their first home game, the San Diego Padres announced today PETCO Park is nearly sold out for the 2011 home opener against the San Francisco Giants.

Less than 200 seats remain for the game Tuesday, April 5 at 3:35 p.m. In response to high demand, the team will release 1,500 Park passes for purchase tomorrow morning. The $5 tickets allow fans to watch the game from Park at the Park. They can be purchased beginning at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow at the PETCO Park box office.

Festivities slated for Opening Day include a pregame ceremony highlighted by the National Anthem, performed by Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum recording artist Jason Mraz, and a celebration of 75 years of Padres baseball in San Diego, featuring Padres alumni spanning the club's history.

Opening Day ceremonies are scheduled to begin at approximately 3:00 p.m., with gates opening to all fans at 1:30 p.m. Additional information surrounding Opening Day festivities, game details and transportation recommendations will be released at a later date.

Tickets for Opening Day can still be guaranteed through the purchase of Padres Season Tickets, by calling 619.795.5555. Tickets for the remaining 80 regular-season home games, including three opening weekend matchups against the Los Angeles Dodgers, can be purchased at the PETCO Park box office, online at, by phone at 619.795.5555 and at the Padres Store in Tijuana.
