Black gets tour of new Yankee Stadium
Padres manager impressed with all that's going into new park

"There's going to be a lot [more] to that stadium than what's going on the field," Black said. "There's a handful of restaurants, a steakhouse, a Hard Rock Café. It's going to be, I don't want to say extravagant, but big."
The new Yankee Stadium -- which is across the street from the current stadium -- will cost roughly 500 times the original stadium, built in 1923. The ballpark was later renovated in 1974.
It will be the most expensive stadium built in the United States and the second-most expense built in the world, trailing only Wembley Stadium in London.
"Its columns and pillars are reminiscent of ancient Rome and Caesars Palace," said Black of the outside of the stadium that is designed to give the exterior the look of the original pre-renovations Yankee Stadium.
Black also noted the abundance of space for the teams, saying, "Behind the scenes, there is a lot of area. It's just big, spacious ... the clubhouse, the batting cages, weight room."
There's no telling when the Padres might get a chance to visit the new ballpark, as they are at the mercy of the league office, which puts together the Interleague schedule.
