Padres make moves to reinforce bullpen
Adams reinstated from DL; LeBlanc, Moreno recalled

The Padres reinstated right-handed pitcher Mike Adams from the 60-day disabled list a few days earlier than his expected return, manager Bud Black said.
Adams had surgery during the offseason to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. The Padres placed Adams on the 15-day disabled list April 1 and moved him to the 60-day disabled list April 5. Adams went on eight rehabilitation assignments with Double-A San Antonio and Triple-A Portland, going 1-0 with a 4.00 ERA and six strikeouts in nine innings.
The Padres also recalled left-handed pitcher Wade LeBlanc and right-handed pitcher Edwin Moreno from Triple-A Portland and optioned lefty Joe Thatcher to Portland.
"A lot of the moves today were to bring reinforcements to our bullpen, based on our bullpen throwing 12 innings yesterday," Black said.
The Padres were forced to bring shortstop Josh Wilson to the mound in the 18th inning Sunday after going through nine pitchers. With two outs and two runners on base, Wilson gave up a home run to D-backs third baseman Mark Reynolds.
Padres righty Luis Perdomo was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a strained left knee.
"Some fluid buildup in his knee has been bothering him for the last four or five days," Black said. "He had an MRI this morning. It showed no structural damage. We thought it would be in the best interest of Luis if he let this calm down for 15 days."
The Padres also outrighted infielder Chris Burke to Triple-A Portland. Burke had been splitting time with Wilson at shortstop since Everth Cabrera and Luis Rodriguez went on the disabled list with injuries. Rodriguez, currently playing on rehabilitation assignment with Class A Lake Elsinore, is expected to return to the Padres in a few days.
