Padres to hold Fan Fest in Peoria

Free event includes practice, autographs, youth clinic

PEORIA, Ariz. -- Several Padres and Mariners players will sign autographs and work out Saturday at Fan Fest at the Peoria Sports Complex.

The annual event serves as the kickoff to the 2010 Cactus League season. The Padres and Mariners will play their annual charity game at the stadium Thursday.

The gates for Fan Fest will open at 9 a.m. MT and admission, parking and activities are free.

The event will include team practices, and fans will also be able to play catch on the field and run the bases. There will be sports memorabilia and the return of the interactive skills area for fans of all ages.

Players and coaches from both teams will also hold autograph sessions.

Padres who are scheduled to work out at the event are Tim Stauffer, Will Venable, Scott Hairston, Chad Huffman, Cesar Carrillo, Kyle Blanks, Tony Gwynn, Oscar Salazar, Aaron Cunningham, Chris Denorfia, Luis Durango and Dusty Ryan.

Padres who will sign autographs include Heath Bell, Edward Mujica, Adam Russell, Joe Thatcher, Radhames Liz, Mike Adams, Luke Gregerson, Aaron Poreda, Ernesto Frieri, Ryan Webb, Steve Garrison, Cory Luebke, Wynn Pelzer and Greg Burke.

There will also be a free youth clinic from noon to 2 p.m., limited to 100 participants. The event is hosted by Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, with registration held on site.

The first 400 children will receive a free T-ball bag courtesy of AZ Stadium Sports. All children 12 and under will receive a free ticket to the College Showdown Baseball Tournament.
