Upon further review, Venable granted home run

HOUSTON -- Will Venable hit his sixth homer of the season in the third inning, a solo shot to right field, but it took him a couple minutes to reach home plate after umpires originally ruled the hit a triple.

Venable's line drive off Astros starter Jordan Lyles floated over right fielder Brian Bogusevic's head, hitting off a fan's arms and bouncing back into the field of play. Venable stopped at third base.

Padres manager Bud Black came out of the dugout to argue the call with second-base umpire and crew chief Derryl Cousins. The umpires agreed to look at the hit on video review and overturned the original decision.

Venable jogged home from third, giving the Padres a 1-0 lead.
