Padres recall OF Jaff Decker from Triple-A Tucson; place OF Cameron Maybin on 15-day DL

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Padres today announced that they have recalled outfielder Jaff Decker from Triple-A Tucson and have placed outfielder Cameron Maybin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 10, with a left knee sprain. Executive Vice President/General Manager Josh Byrnes made the announcement.

Jaff, 23, pronounced "Jeff," is making his first Major League stint. In 58 games with Tucson this season, the left-handed hitter has hit .251 (46-for-183) with 10 doubles, one triple, five home runs, 20 RBI, 33 runs scored, 34 walks and a .370 on-base percentage. Originally signed by the Padres as a supplemental-round selection (42nd overall) in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, he has hit .262 (436-for-1666) with 93 doubles, 13 triples, 66 home runs, 284 RBI, 342 runs scored, 370 walks and a .402 on-base percentage in 482 games played over parts of six minor leagues seasons (2008-13) in the Padres organization.

Maybin, 26, has hit .157 (8-for-51) with a double, a home run, five RBI and seven runs scored in 14 games played for the Padres this season. He was reinstated from the 15-day disabled list on June 8 after being placed on April 17 with a right wrist impingement. Over parts of seven Major League seasons with the Detroit Tigers (2007), Florida Marlins (2008-10) and Padres (2011-13), he has hit .248 (402-for-1622) with 69 doubles, 18 triples, 31 home runs, 135 RBI, 249 runs scored and 89 stolen bases in 466 games played.
