One important item that was missing from a nutty game played between the Reds and Pirates was a final score. Even with a combined 10 home runs, a stadium record, hit through six innings, rain stopped the game with a 7-7 score before the top of the seventh. Following a 1-hour and 38-minute delay, it was suspended. Play will resume at 5:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

The Pirates broke out of their batting slump Monday night -- in duplicate. Or triplicate, if you count the number of times they hit back-to-back home runs. Reds catcher Devin Mesoraco's homer set a new Great American Ball Park record of 10 home runs, breaking the standard set on May 27, 2012, by the Rockies (five) and the Reds (four).

On the disabled list with a dislocated left shoulder, utility player Skip Schumaker made some progress on Monday, when he was able to do some throwing and hit off of a tee. Another player on the DL, lefty reliever Sean Marshall, is also advancing his efforts to return. He is slated to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday at Triple-A Louisville and pitch an inning in back-to-back games. There is a chance he could be activated before the end of the week.

Reds shortstop Zack Cozart knew he didn't have to look over his shoulder when he was struggling at the plate to start the season. But starting out 0-for-22 like he did, it was still difficult to live through. Manager Bryan Price told Cozart during the last road trip in New York he had the club's confidence.
