The San Diego Padres will celebrate the inaugural 'PLAY BALL WEEKEND,' a league-wide effort by MLB and all 30 Clubs to engage young baseball fans and celebrate the continued support of youth participation in baseball and softball. The initiative officially launched May 14th-15th in ballparks around the League, with the Padres, who were on the road last weekend, holding activities May 20th- 22nd.

With a sellout crowd expected, concert guests are strongly encouraged to arrive downtown early and enjoy one of the many restaurants and bars in the area. The San Diego Padres today announced the 2016 Padres Hall of Fame class. Former Padres third baseman Ken Caminiti and San Diego native Ted Williams will be inducted into the Padres Hall of Fame this summer: Williams on Friday, July 1, in conjunction with the grand opening of the Padres Hall of Fame, and Caminiti on Saturday, August 6 during Padres Hall of Fame Weekend. The elections were made by the Padres front office in collaboration with the San Diego chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA) and local sports media.
Major League Baseball has announced the winners of the 2016 Honorary Bat Girl contest, which recognizes baseball fans who have been affected by breast cancer and who demonstrate a commitment to supporting the fight against the disease.
