The Padres lost the game, but more importantly lost starting pitcher Chris Young and catcher Josh Bard in the third inning. Young was hit by an Albert Pujols line drive and suffered a nasal fracture and a laceration on his nose. Bard sprained an ankle when he was hit by a sliding Pujols.
