Padres get outflanked
Photos
Diamondbacks 9, Padres 6
Josh Geer allowed four runs on five hits in five innings on Sunday. (Denis Poroy/AP)
David Eckstein's game-tying homer in the ninth was an afterthought by the time the Majors' longest game came to a close after 18 innings. The Friars rallied from down five to force extras, but they were held hitless from the 10th on and ran out of pitchers, forcing shortstop Josh Wilson to take the mound and the loss.
