NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Major League Baseball Players Association executive director Michael Weiner issued the following statement in response to the announcement that Don Fehr has been named National Hockey League Players Association executive director.

"We congratulate Don and the NHLPA, and we wish them well in all future collective bargaining matters. Don’s experience with the MLBPA will surely benefit hockey players going forward. The MLBPA, as it has done in the past, stands ready to assist the NHLPA whenever called upon."
