The Padres' commitment to youth baseball continues in 2014 with their signature Youth Baseball Initiative. Since 2012 the Padres have donated more than 40,000 jerseys and caps to some of the region's youth baseball players within the closest proximity of Petco Park.
This program supports five Little League districts throughout San Diego county (Districts 32,33,41,42 and 66) and supplies the leagues teams, t-ball through minors, with Padres-branded, performance quality jerseys and matching "SD" caps. Leagues had 12 different styles of jerseys to choose from representing styles throughout Padres history.
Participating leagues are encouraged to use the funds that would have been allocated towards jerseys and caps for improvement projects that benefit the entire league.
Here are some fun facts for 2014:
More than 14,700 jerseys
Nearly 30 Opening Day Visits
