LITTLE PADRES PARKS
Building clean, safe fields for youth baseball
To help celebrate the 60th anniversary of professional baseball in San Diego, dating to the 1936 Pacific Coast League Padres, Chairman John Moores suggested refurbishing baseball diamonds where youngsters throughout the region (including Baja California) could play ball in clean, safe settings. All Little Padres Parks have grass infields, big-league landscaping, scoreboards, and signature palm trees in the outfield.

These parks are found all over San Diego County from Oceanside to the South Bay, as far north as Lake Elsinore, east to El Centro and even south of the border in Tijuana--with more on the way. Parks have been dedicated in honor of Jackie Robinson, San Diego native Ted Williams, Hall of Famer Dave Winfield and Andres Berumen, the first Tijuana native to pitch for the Padres.
On March 10th, 2007 the Padres proudly dedicated the 29th and 30th Little Padres Parks at Twin Hills Youth & Recreation Park for Little League and ASA Softball. This dedication officially brings the Padres half way home to our goal of refurbishing or building a total of 60 fields throughout the San Diego and the Baja California region.
The 31st Little Padres Park in Encanto was dedicated on Saturday, March 24th, 2007 at Verna Quinn field for Encanto Little League. The Padres are delighted to have had the opportunity to partner with the Encanto Little League, Councilmember Tony Young, the Little League Urban Initiative, Bank of America's "Keep the Change" program, and special project contributor Randy McPhillips in the refurbishment of this field.
The two refurbished softball fields at Magnolia Elementary School in El Cajon mark the Padres 32nd and 33rd Little Padres Parks were dedicated to El Cajon Girls Softball in an official ceremony on Saturday, April 28th, 2007.
The 34th Little Padres Park is home to the Miracle League of San Diego at San Dieguito Park. The Miracle League is a charitable organization that provides children with mental or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. The Miracle League's mission is to build an ADA accessible ball field and to operate a league that serves the approximately 35,000 children with disabilities in San Diego County and the Padres are thrilled to be a part of creating this first field of its kind in Southern California. For more information, please contact Suzie Engel (858) 354-0204, suzie.engel@miracleleagueofsandiego.org.
The 35th and 36th Little Padres Parks were dedicated to the Guaycura Little League in Tijuana on October 20th, 2007.
