Padres Pedal the Cause

Padres Pedal the Cause is an annual cycling fundraising event with the mission of creating a world without cancer. The event is scheduled for November 11-12 with the start and finish line at Petco Park. New courses that go over the Coronado Bridge, distances and year-round special events will be offered to 2017 Padres Pedal the Cause participants. Participants also experience the thrill of riding across the Petco Park outfield to finish followed by an on-field family-friendly celebration.

The San Diego Padres and Pedal the Cause first teamed up in 2015 and raised $1.3 million for cancer research centers here in San Diego. Starting in 2016 the organizations officially partnered to renamed the event Padres Pedal the Cause, move the ride start and finish to Petco Park and together raise $2,031,989. This is the largest single year fundraising to date, bringing the total lifetime raise to over $4,750,000.

There are many ways to participate:

  • Bike any distance, ranging from 5 to 150 miles - anyone can ride and all skill levels are welcome. Youth are also encouraged to participate in the Kids Challenge, a one-mile ride around Petco Park.
  • Donate directly to the cause or to a participant's fundraising page
  • Volunteer during the ride weekend. It takes more than 800 volunteers to make Padres Pedal go!

With the home base of Petco Park, the experience of riding in Padres Pedal the Cause includes the Saturday night celebration which allows teams and riders to gather together for an inspirational program and an unforgettable evening on the field under the lights. Discounted hotel rooms are available downtown at the Omni Hotel and Sofia Hotel. More information is available here.
