Enters his third season coaching at any level after serving as special assistant to baseball operations for the Padres in 2010.
Named to the Major League staff as first base coach on 10/18/10.
PLAYING CAREER
Played parts of 10 seasons in the Major Leagues with the Cleveland Indians (1999-2001), Los Angeles Dodgers (2002-04), Boston Red Sox (2004), Padres (2005-06) and San Francisco Giants (2007-08).
From his first full season in 2002 to his last full season in 2007, ranked fourth among all Major League players with 226 stolen bases.
Hit a career-high .293 for the Padres in 2006, also tying Tony Gwynn's franchise single-season record with a career-high 13 triples.

David Ray Roberts...born in Japan...he and his wife Tricia have a daughter, Emmerson, and a son, Cole...attended
Rancho Buena Vista High School in San Diego and went on to earn a degree from UCLA...played left field for the Bruins
and finished his collegiate career as the school's all-time stolen base leader(109)...following his playing career, served
as an analyst for the New England Sports Network in 2009 before joining the Padres front office in 2010.
